An invitation to

A free weekend workshop and performance for drummers of all abilities

To get this year’s Uppingham Feast started at full volume, we’re creating a Brazilian samba drumming troop or batteria — and we want you to be part of it.

If you play percussion, are learning, or want to try then this is an amazing free opportunity to play incredible rhythms (some simple, some complex — whatever suits your ability) on authentic instruments, as part of a performing group.

  • all the essentials provided — kit, tuition and even some food
  • learn through vocalizing and repetition, with no sheet music — like they do at Brazilian samba schools
  • Mainly for over-12s, but keen under-12s are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian

Saturday 18 June: Learn the parts

St. Peter & St. Paul Church Hall, Uppingham 10.30 to 15:00

Easy grooves for beginners, exciting solos for experts, and everything in-between.

Sunday 19 June: Launch the Feast

10.30 to 13.00, starting at St. Peter & St. Paul Church Hall, Uppingham

A final rehearsal, then one big loud samba street party to get Uppingham Feast started.

And more…

We’ll be running additional free DrumFeast workshops in May and June, to give you a head start in learning the parts and techniques. Dates to be confirmed.
